Getting Outside of Myself

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Outside of me there’s good and bad as well
My introspective nature needs to chill
This world can be a heaven or a hell
I want to see it heaven, so I will
Remember there is more to life than me
Regardless of the feelings that I feel
Like hellish pain; I need to look and see
There’s other people here who’s souls are real
She found me and inspired me to live
Her beauty made me see angelic grace
I know she knows this world has pain to give
And yet, she doesn’t wear it on her face
I love to get outside this “world of mine.”
Where I can see my teacher’s beauty shine.

Reply to a Precious Poet

She feels me: peaceful, silent, unadorned
We’re so connected, “soulmate” isn’t trite
We’re not naive; both “soulmates” have been warned
We might not make it, then again, we might!
Neglecting possibility is wrong
Ignoring what we want and what we need
Enslaves us both, like most within this throng
We’ve been enslaved, but now we’ve both been freed!
I’m unadorned; I have no chains to bear
I’m silent; she can feel my words, my cries
I’m peaceful; I can feel her loving care
Our destiny’s no longer some surprise!
Yes, life’s too short to keep our love untold
Let’s take the chance; let’s let our hearts be bold!

The Music of Sunrise

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Connected by our hearts, we’ll stay in tune
Your music brings me peace when I am sad
I’ll hear your song in concert, one day soon
I love this thought, the best I’ve ever had
It’s more than just the beauty of your voice
Your words are more than symbols of your soul
To listen to your music is my choice
To be connected to your heart, my goal
It’s more than just a goal; it is a fact
Like sunrise in the morning’s nature’s law
Like stimulus responds, I have to act
Your warmth and beauty dawn before my awe
Don’t sever our connection, not this one
The darkness of my sadness needs your sun.

Missing You

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

It hurts to lie in bed and think of you
I should have lost my memories, but no
Reminders of the love I know I knew
are all around, no matter where I go
My memories collide with what I am
Alone, and something else; I’m not sure what
Too many doors are closed; I felt them slam
I need to open feelings that are shut
My skin remembers you and your caress
My mouth remembers how you used to kiss
These longings are the source of my duress
I know that there is more to life than this
This bed of pain has robbed me of my dreams
Without you here beside me, so it seems.

Coffee and a Pretty Blonde

Monday, February 21st, 2011

It’s true; I’m such a sucker for a blonde!
I bought a cup of coffee, then I saw
Her pretty face; my will was far beyond
the simpleness of anything like “awe”
Go talk to her; come up with some excuse
to introduce yourself; be suave, be bold
Don’t fight your will; you’ll lose.  There is no use
Go quickly now; your coffee’s getting cold!

I went.  She let me touch her slender hand
So warm, her smile was too;  she let me talk
I wished there was a chair; I had to stand
But standing there was fine; there was no clock!
A pretty blonde, some coffee, and no time
Now all I need to do is make it rhyme!

Finding Beauty Together

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

I focus on the things I can control
It helps to keep me sane when life is hard
I look for beauty; beauty is my goal
There is no greater thing I can regard
By “great,” I mean the peak of every climb
I climb to reach the beauty of the sky
regardless of the effort or the time
Success is only mine if I will try
Like building a cathedral, I am taught
symbolic language is a higher art
My life is more than anything I thought
I know the things I feel within my heart
And when I look for beauty with a friend
I find the beauty which will never end.

Sweetie

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

You shared your heart; I felt it soft in mine
Your precious words became a part of me
To hold you in my arms would be divine
I’d look into your eyes, where I would see
The beauty that I came to know was you
I hope you don’t object to how I feel
I hope when you were sharing, that you knew
the guy was miles away, but he was real
The guy was me; I felt you in my heart
I’ve never felt so much in such a way
Too late for caution now; I felt it start
like sunshine at the start of every day
Such warmth and light from so far up above
Must be the sun, or may I call it love?

Comparing Memories

Friday, February 18th, 2011

You look as soft as comfort’s memory
My memory of comfort takes me in
I hope this is a place you want to be
This place where comfort’s memories begin
I want to take you back to where I feel
The warmth of just a look, a lover’s glance
We’ll only share our comfort when it’s real
With you I’d never fake the circumstance
I’ve felt our minds connect; I’ve felt you fear
that such connection marred your simple grace
But blemishes like that will not appear
upon your soul; there is no cleaner place
I only feel the comfort that you share
And memories of mine cannot compare.

Kisses

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Unsure of what is real and what is not
I never knew such doubts could veil my mind
My hate is for the injury I got
There’s stuff inside my brain I still can’t find
And yet, I’m still alive; some things feel new
Like kissing her; I never will forget
There was no doubt; I knew just what to do
I felt her lips on mine, both warm and wet
I never want to kiss another girl
And yet, I want to kiss my girl some more
Within her arms, my head begins to whirl
My thoughts are of the woman I adore
Her kisses tear the veils and help reveal
My memories of her; they all are real.
